September 29, 2021

Gay Jones & Kuhn PLLC is continuing to extend its footprint across the South by bolstering its legal practice for clients in Alabama with the addition of experienced Alabama attorney Malea Higdon. “We are happy Malea has joined GJK. She’s a great fit for our growing team, and her knowledge and experience in courts across the state of Alabama will be a huge benefit for our Alabama clients,” says GJK founder Sarah Beth Jones who leads the firm’s Alabama practice.

Malea brings nearly ten years of Alabama litigation experience to GJK. She is also licensed in Mississippi and previously practiced in Hawaii. As an integral member of GJK’s product liability and toxic tort team, Malea will primarily focus on mass tort litigation defense in Alabama while also supporting the firm’s asbestos bankruptcy trust transparency practice. Additionally, Malea will work with Alabama clients on corporate matters.

Malea, a native of Glencoe, Alabama, earned her B.A. in History from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law, graduating cum laude. After law school, Malea returned to Alabama practicing with Couch, Conville, and Blitt, LLC in Birmingham, Alabama representing clients across Alabama in all stages of litigation from initial pleadings through trial. Most recently, Malea practiced with Brunson & Walker, P.C. in Gadsden, Alabama focusing on complex discovery productions and disputes.

“I am excited for the opportunity to be working at GJK. I was drawn to the firm's collective litigation experience and unique vision as a women-owned firm. I am excited to work and collaborate with other women in the legal profession to grow as an attorney, serving both my community and our clients,” says new GJK attorney Malea Higdon.

Malea resides in Southside, Alabama with her husband, two daughters, and their dogs.
